Amidst the developed garden city-state of Singapore, there are still people who may fall through the cracks of our country’s care system. This is a story of a loving and resilient old couple struggling to cope with various and inordinate challenges in life because of their irresponsible children.

My inspiration for this short film came from my parents who like to ask my brothers and me if we would allow them to stay with us when they are old. I often heard people in Singapore pushing their parents around, especially not wanting their old parents to disturb their happy family life. This is a unique issue in Singapore's context where elderly often expect and hope to stay with their children and grandchildren.

A New Start

An ex-convict working hard to change himself, struggles to start anew in a changing urban landscape and society he was once conversant with, finds himself in a situation that tests his determination to change and the principles he now embraces. This short film explores the notion of forgiveness and that everyday is indeed a test of our commitment to a new self.

What inspired me to make this short film is that I would think our society needs compassion and forgiveness for the people who have committed mistakes in their life and is putting in effort to change themselves. I believe that a person will change if he or she embraces the right values.
